The theme for FAHM 2026 recognizes the contributions, struggles, and lived experiences of Filipino Americans whose stories have been typically overlooked, underrepresented, or excluded from traditional historical narratives. By centering intersectional histories (including but not limited to those of women, LGBTQ+ people, Indigenous Filipinos, Moro/Muslim Filipinos, people with disabilities, multiracial Filipinos, undocumented migrants, adoptees, and other marginalized communities), we move toward a fuller, more nuanced, and more inclusive understanding of Filipino American history.

Call for Interviewees

2026 Oral Histories Projects: Children of the Manongs and Post-1965 Filipino American Immigrants in Sonoma County.

Presently, we are working on possibly two documentary films, “Children of the Manongs,” and “Post-1965 Filipino American Immigrants in Sonoma County.” In keeping with our previous documentary film, Remembering Our Manongs (Elders), Sonoma County’s Filipino History, we would like to gather and archive the stories of the next generation of elders, the children of the Manongs and post-1965 Filipino immigrants in Sonoma County. Interviews are now underway. If you or someone you know identify either as a child or family member of a Manong--one of the first Filipino American immigrants in Sonoma County who arrived in the 1920s and ‘30s or earlier—or as a post-’65 Filipino immigrant to Sonoma County, please consider sharing your stories to be archived as an integral part of Filipino American histories in Sonoma County.
